Assignment Books/Homework Notices—Teachers in the lower grades send home weekly notices of homework assignments. Students in grades three through five are provided assignment notebooks in which they write their daily homework assignments.
 
Weekly Folders—Teachers send home weekly folders with graded work samples, behavior ratings, and Accelerated Reader information.
 
Progress Notes—Progress notes that specify student grades are sent home at the midpoint of each nine weeks.
 
Report Cards—Report cards are sent home at the end of each nine weeks.
 
Conferences with Teachers—Each teacher conducts at least one conference with each student’s parent during the first nine weeks. Other conferences are held throughout the year as needed.
 
Phone Calls—Each classroom is equipped with a telephone so that parents can leave messages for teachers during class time and teachers can easily return calls or make needed contacts during their planning periods.
 
Pupil Progression Plan Letters—Letters are sent to parents as specified in the parish Pupil Progression Plan to notify them when their child/children are at risk for possible retention or for failing the LEAP test.

A Message from Mrs. Hilburn, our Principal

Welcome to Plantation Park Elementary!! As the principal of Plantation Park Elementary, I have high expectations for every student that walks through our doors. With collaboration between the school and community there is no doubt we will experience success along the way. When you enter our school you can expect to see teachers using hands-on, differentiated instruction, displaying a caring attitude and providing a safe environment for your child. We strive to always have a positive attitude and believe that Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts! By working together we WILL achieve academic excellence and help our students become leaders in this community. We look forward to partnering with you for the 2017   2018 school year.   We have scheduled Open House for Sunday, July 30th from 4 00   5 30. We can t wait to see all of our students and parents. This will be an opportunity for you to drop off school supplies and meet your teacher.    Remember to check the website and out Facebook for upcoming events and current news about Plantation Park and its wonderful students, parents, and teachers! Teachers also send home Tuesday parent communication folders with your child s papers, important notes, and behavior reports. Please look over this folder with your child each Tuesday and sign any important papers to return to school. You can also sign up for Illuminate Home Connect to receive daily updates about your child s grades.   We have also set up a phone number for Plantation Park where you can receive text messages about important events at our school. If you would like to receive these text messages please send a text to  804  212-1632 and text @ppark. Once you have done that, you will begin to receive text messages from our school.     We look forward to you partnering with us as we show  Pony Pride  daily by learning to use Positive Words, show Respectful Actions, take Individual Responsibility, have Daily Attendance, and Expect the BEST from all our boys and girls.  As always we want to work with you to create an environment where our students feel safe and are excited about coming to school each day!   I look forward to hearing from you!
